Microsoft's Xbox Live Zune service could soon offer the option to subscribe for streaming video.

 

According to The Daily, sources at the company's Redmond office have confirmed that they'll soon be a "new way to watch videos on the Xbox 360" that rivals subscription streaming video services like Hulu and Netflix.

The site says it doesn't have hard details on what subscription packages MS will offer, whilst the platform holder itself is merely wheeling out the "we don't comment on rumour or speculation" line.

European Xbox 360 owners can already use the console for one subscription service - Live's Sky Player - but Zune requires users to purchase individual programmes or movies.

Could this new rumour be linked to the Xbox Live Diamond TV-on-demand service many expected to be announced at E3?
